The atmosphere is really nice at LSI, not only because of the teachers but also because of the classmates. I have also had lots of help from all the teachers to improve my English level.

MICHAEL DAWSON PARRONDO, AUSTRALIAN INTERNSHIPS, BRISBANE

michaelhomepage.jpgCompleting an internship in Brisbane, Australia has been undoubtedly one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! My internship company tests me to the limit allowing me to apply what I have learned from my university studies, Professional Communication, to an actual work environment.

My supervisor allows me to complete real jobs and tasks that my colleagues do on a daily basis. I am constantly learning valuable work experience that I can apply to my own profession once I have completed my university studies; however, this experience allows me to gain valuable knowledge not just inside the workplace but outside as well. For instance, I am picking up bits and pieces of Mandarin Chinese as well as Japanese; while I can't say that I speak both languages fluently I can say that I am on the right path to learning these valuable tongues. It is really easy to pick up these languages thanks to hodgepodge of different peoples and cultures that exist in this city!

Every day I am exposed to new ideas and customs that allow me to think outside the box. This applies to all aspects of Australian culture which includes the people, food and lifestyle in general. It is not uncommon for me to come across smiling, complacent faces on my way to work; strangers are more than willinmichael.jpgg to help disoriented foreigners who might ask obvious questions. Around here the people don't live to work, the work a sufficient amount in order to live happily.

It is worth traveling to Australia just for the food alone! It is a fusion of various cultures and ethnicities. I've come across European, Asian and American (both North and South) cuisine, all of which have left me quite satisfied. For example, the other day I had tasty sushi rolls for lunch and an awesome kangaroo steak for dinner. There is such a variety here that one can eat a plate of food from a different ethnicity every day of the week... food here is definitely not boring!

The group of Aussies I work with at my internship are competent and efficient and simultaneously complete their tasks in a relaxed and friendly manner; this same energy is noticeable when they are off the clock and go out and enjoy the nightlife. Tmichael2.jpghere are hundreds of different pubs, discotheques and venues all throughout Brisbane. I personally like to go out to Fortitude Valley where one can enjoy a wide varied of different establishments until the sun comes up. On top of having an awesome nightlife one can enjoy the unbelievably beautiful countryside, flora and fauna; hiking, rock climbing and exploring the wildlife which courses all throughout the country are common day activities Down Under.

Undoubtedly Brisbane, Australia is my new home. The people accept me with arms wide open, my workmates work hard but in a fun fashion, and all aspects of this country from the beautiful countryside to the exotic animals allure me. Coming here would have been quite the endeavor if it were not for the help that IEC Estudios provided. They have helped me from the inception of this experience up until the moment I landed in the Sunshine State; this includes the visa paperwork, finding a host company and a host family. I never had one doubt or question thanks to the guidance provided by IEC Estudios.
